Calvary Captain Countdown – 17 days

Catherine (R) and Calvary's Executive Director Kris Thompson at this year's Volunteer Appreciation event

If you’re a Calvary volunteer, you may already know and love Catherine Bisson… well folks, the feeling is mutual!: “It is no secret that we greatly value our volunteers—I just happen to be the lucky one that gets to work with all of them.  I’ve LOVED moments when I’ve finally been able to meet a veteran volunteer (some of whom have been here for over 6 years!).  The ability to put a face to a name, and say ‘thank you’ in person is priceless.”

This will be Catherine’s first year walking, and by now, after the build-up of the past five months she’s spent planning and gearing up for the event, she’s very excited to finally experience it on November 20th! “I think I’m most looking forward to meeting and catching up with all of our supporters—friends, family, Board members, and volunteers.  It is rare that we all are in one place at the same time, so it will be great to have the opportunity for the Calvary family to be together.”

Being a Calvary insider, Catherine has so many reasons the walk inspires her: “I’m walking for my colleagues and the work we do, as well as the women we serve and will continue to serve in the future.”

An added bonus for Catherine? As a New England transplant (she’s originally from New Hampshire), winter is her favorite season, and she’s looking forward to spending a crisp November morning outdoors. “Snowpocalypse 2011—bring it on” (as long as it holds off ‘til after the Walkathon)!
