Guests Give Back at Calvary Women’s Services’ Holiday Reception

Calvary Women’s Services hosted the sixth annual Holiday Give Back reception last night to raise money and collect donations in support of its housing, health, employment and education programs that empower homeless women. More than 85 business leaders, political figures, volunteers and other individuals from around the District attended the event to give back to women at Calvary and celebrate the holiday season.

A woman currently in Calvary Transitional Housing Program shared her story during the reception and spoke about the progress she is making toward independent living. “I’m getting great support at Calvary,” she said. “I love Calvary and everything that’s going on there.”

In addition to financial contributions, guests donated new items including pajamas, towels and bedding that will be given to women in Calvary’s housing programs. These items will be especially useful for women moving into their own homes during the winter months.

“The donations that were given so generously at Holiday Give Back offer women at Calvary a special type of care and support during the holiday season,” said Kris Thompson, Calvary’s executive director. “This can be a challenging time of year for some women at Calvary, but donors help brighten the holidays and offer women a renewed sense of hope.”

Event sponsors for this year’s Holiday Give Back included General Dynamics C4 Systems, Baker Tilly, Command Consulting Group, the QED Group, LLC and SevenTwenty Strategies. Beverages and food were donated by ASGK and Whole Foods Market.
