Step Up DC to Host Career Fair at Calvary Women’s Services
Step Up DC will host a Spring Career Fair on Wednesday, March 25 to introduce women at Calvary Women’s Services to a variety of local job opportunities and employers. Launched in September 2014, the Step Up DC job placement program connects women in Calvary’s transitional and permanent housing programs with employers in the community.
The Spring Career Fair will connect women at Calvary with several businesses in the Washington, DC area. The event is scheduled to provide job opportunities in advance of the anticipated spring hiring season. There is no cost for participants or employers to attend.
Hiring representatives from & pizza, Aaron’s Furniture, CVS Pharmacy, Five Guys, Giant Food, Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, Robert Half and Walmart will be present. The DC Office of Human Rights will also give an educational presentation on how employees can ensure that their rights are being protected.

12:30-1 p.m. – Employers arrive and set up
1-2 p.m. – Lunch and presentation by DC Office of Human Rights
2-4 p.m. – Participants meet with employers in exhibition space

Who: The Spring Career Fair is open to women currently or formerly in Calvary Transitional Housing Program, Pathways and Sister Circle, as well as current and former participants of Calvary’s STRIDE (Search Together to Resume Dignified Employment) program.

Women enrolled in Step Up DC are committed to re-entering the workplace, pursuing their long-term career goals and securing stable sources of income so that they can live independently. Through the program, candidates build their confidence and skills through activities such as resume-building and extensive mock interviewing. To date, Step Up DC candidates have been hired in industries including IT support, security, retail and healthcare.
