Calvary Women’s Services Selected as Hogan Lovells Touch Charity

Hogan Lovells has selected Calvary Women’s Services to be the law firm’s local Touch charity, strengthening its commitment to empowering women in the region who are homeless. Over the next two years, Hogan Lovells will host fundraising events and match donations that its employees make to Calvary up to a certain threshold. The Touch giving campaign operates under the firm’s philosophy that “we can do more if we act collectively rather than individually.”

Through the Touch campaign, Hogan Lovells supports local nonprofits in each of the locales where it works, as well as an international nonprofit. Hogan Lovells intentionally partners with organizations that address issues including poverty, homelessness and disability. This year members of the Touch Committee specifically nominated organizations like Calvary that provide vital services for women and girls, in conjunction with Hogan Lovells’ global Empowering Girls and Women Initiative.

Calvary and Hogan Lovells are partnering together on the Initiative through the Step Up DC job placement program, which connects homeless women to employment opportunities. Hogan Lovells employees will conduct mock job interview, facilitate group employment discussions and lead employment readiness workshops with women at Calvary.

Summer Associates from Hogan Lovells volunteered at Calvary today as part of a city-wide day of service organized by the firm. One group of volunteers led workshops for women on employment-focused topics including best job search practices, time management and presentation for the workplace. A second group cleaned and beautified areas where women eat meals, socialize and take classes.

Hogan Lovells is a long-time Corporate Partner of Calvary Women’s Services. Every year for the past decade the firm has generously donated enough Thanksgiving baskets to feed women at Calvary as well as their families. Hogan Lovells employees have contributed a combined total of more than 550 volunteer hours. Additionally, Hogan Lovells has provided more than $267,000 worth of pro bono legal support and sponsored Calvary’s largest annual fundraising event, the Hope Awards Dinner.
