Volunteer Spotlight: Support + Feed

Volunteers not only provide invaluable services to residents but also gain something valuable in return through the relationships they build and the meaningful work they do at Calvary Women’s Services.

We’re delighted to highlight one of our incredible volunteer partners, Support + Feed (S+F). Since 2020, this organization has collaborated with local restaurants to provide plant-based meals to women in Calvary’s programs. S+F also promotes equitable, plant-based food systems worldwide to combat food insecurity and climate change.

Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with Wanita David, DC Coordinator for S+F, about her experiences volunteering with Calvary. She shared that S+F enjoys delivering a variety of dishes from diverse local restaurants, offering an extensive selection of plant-based options. Wanita noted, “One of the most frequent meals we provide as meal volunteers is chili and sweet potato fries from PLNT Burger.”

When asked about her favorite experience volunteering at Calvary, Wanita said, “[Mine] has been personally delivering to Calvary and contributing tasty meals that the women can enjoy, as well as giving them the nourishment they deserve.” By sourcing delicious, plant-based meals, S+F provides the means to enjoy sustainable, local cuisine while empowering women to focus on their goals of regaining their independence through Calvary’s programs.

To Wanita, volunteering means “dedicating time to participate in a diverse array of missions aimed at strengthening and uplifting my community.”

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Wanita and S+F for not only providing nutritious meals, but for sharing their time and dedication as volunteers with women transforming their lives in our programs!
