6th Annual Calvary Women’s Services Community Walk FAQ
Register Today for the 6th Annual Calvary Women’s Services Community Walk
Join Calvary Women’s Services as we celebrate the achievements of our community and show our commitment to women experiencing homelessness.
The 2025 Calvary Community Walk will be held Saturday, October 4, 10:00 AM, at Anacostia Park (near the Anacostia Park Roller Skating Pavilion). Early Bird registration is $30 through September 3. After that, regular registration is $40.
In 2025, we are working to raise $50,000 to support women in our housing, health, education, and employment programs. You can create a fundraising page as an individual or as a team and walk with us to meet the needs of women in our programs.
The 2020 Community Walk started as a virtual fundraising event to support Calvary Women’s Services. Calvary was growing even during the most challenging times to accommodate more women experiencing homelessness, and the funds raised from each walk continue to contribute to the programs we offer.
The idea for the walk stemmed from the Calvary women themselves, who began taking daily group walks during the height of the pandemic in 2020. One woman said the walks were a “blessing” because she found them peaceful and allowed her to leave her worries behind for an hour. Since then, supporters of Calvary’s community walk have participated from wherever they were to champion women who are working to end their homelessness for good.

Where is the walk located within Anacostia Park?
In 2025, we are staging the walk near the Anacostia Park Roller Skating Pavilion (1500 Anacostia Drive, Washington, DC).
Can I bring family, friends, or other loved ones?
Yes, the more the merrier! We would love to meet your partner, parent, child, best friend, neighbor, coworker, or anyone else who is interested in empowering women. You also are welcome to bring your furry friends!
What does the registration fee cover?
Your registration fee helps cover overhead costs to maximize the amount we raise to benefit our programs and the women we serve. You also will receive a t-shirt, access to our Community Walk music playlist, and fundraising support when you sign up! Please note, we have $20 discounted tickets available for children ages 5-10, and kids under the age of four are invited to walk for free.
Will there be food?
We will have light snacks and drinks available for walk participants, but you will want to eat breakfast before joining us in Anacostia Park.
Will there be any other activities for me or the kids in my life?
Yes! We’re planning some special activities for the whole family. Follow Calvary on social media to learn more in the coming weeks.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing something that will be comfortable for walking and standing. We will take a 2.5–mile scenic stroll through Anacostia Park! To complete a full 5K, feel free to walk just a bit farther along the planned route. All attendees will also receive a t-shirt when they check in, which you are welcome to change into.
What happens if it rains?
We will walk for women rain or shine! Our team will be in touch via email if any extenuating circumstances prevent us from being together in person on October 4.
What time should I arrive?
Check-in begins at 10 AM! We ask that participants arrive no later than 10:30 AM for a brief program before we begin our walk.
Is there a virtual option?
Yes! While we would love to see you in person, those who live far away, are out of town, or otherwise unavailable can participate virtually. You will receive a bib, walking route suggestions, a music playlist, and fundraising support.
