Federal Government Shutdown Update

The shutdown of the Federal Government this week has been on everyone’s minds. I want to let you know that Calvary Women’s Services and the women we serve have not felt any impact from this situation.

As you likely know, the D.C. government has continued to function, thanks to their “rainy day” fund. On the federal level, homeless assistance programs are considered essential and are currently operating with funds from fiscal year 2012 and 2013.

Calvary Women’s Services — with the support of our partners, volunteers, donors, and friends — will continue to provide safe housing, nutritious meals, and health, education, and employment programs to women who need them.

I know that many individuals and families in our community and around the country are feeling the effects of the shutdown, however, and Calvary joins with so many others in hoping that this situation is quickly resolved.
