Judy Smith and Terri Lee Freeman to be Honored with the Hope Award

On Wednesday, May 14th, business and community leaders will join Calvary Women’s Services as Ms. Judy Smith is recognized with the Hope Award at Calvary’s 13th Annual Hope Awards Dinner.

Ms. Smith is the founder and President of Smith & Company, a leading strategic and crisis communications firm with offices in Washington DC and Los Angeles. Over the last 25 years, Ms. Smith has brought her unique combination of communication skills, media savvy, and legal and political acumen to clients facing a wide array of issues and challenges throughout the United States and abroad.

As a result of Ms. Smith’s wide-ranging and ground-breaking career, Shonda Rhimes, creator of hit television dramas Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, developed a television drama about the world of crisis management inspired by Ms. Smith. Scandal revolves around the life and work of a professional fixer. Ms. Smith serves as Executive Co-Producer of the project and provides insight and technical expertise on crisis management issues.

The Hope Awards Dinner supports the work of Calvary Women’s Services and recognizes community members who offer hope and empowerment to women in need. “The Hope Awards Dinner offers us a chance to honor heroes in our community and thank all of Calvary’s friends for their continued support,” said Calvary’s Board President Wasfi Alnabki.

The event will be held on Wednesday, May 14th at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. Along with the awards presentation, women who have successfully graduated from Calvary’s housing programs will share their inspiring stories.
