Katie Couric and Sandra Evers-Manly to be Honored with Calvary Women’s Services Hope Award

Calvary Women’s Services announced that it will recognize two women leaders with the Hope Award this year – Katie Couric of ABC News and Sandra Evers-Manly of Northrop Grumman and the Northrop Grumman Foundation.

Both women will be presented the honor at Calvary Women’s Services’ Hope Awards Dinner, where Ms. Couric will be appearing via video. Ms. Couric is a nationally recognized leader in television journalism whose new daytime talk show will debut in September. Ms. Evers-Manly leads myriad programs at Northrop Grumman, including equal employment opportunities, diversity and inclusion, ethics, and charitable giving, and she is a noted speaker and community leader.

The Hope Awards Dinner was created both to support the work of Calvary Women’s Services and to bring to the forefront of the community people who offer hope and empowerment to women in need. The event supports Calvary Women’s Services’ work with homeless women in Washington.

The event will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. Greta Kreuz of ABC7/WJLA-TV will emcee the program and live auction.

Along with the awards presentation, women who have successfully graduated from Calvary’s housing programs will share their inspiring stories. This year’s event also comes at a landmark time for the local nonprofit. The Hope Awards will be a celebration of Calvary’s Building for the Future project, through which the organization has purchased and renovated a new home that will enable Calvary to serve more women and grow its successful health, education and job readiness programs.
