Corporate Partner Spotlight: CareFirst

Throughout this pandemic, our community has really shown up. Since March, Calvary Women’s Services has adjusted programming and safety protocols to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of the women and staff. These changes have meant taking on additional costs of $1,000 per day. We are grateful for all of our corporate partners, like CareFirst, that have stepped up to help us meet community needs during the pandemic.

CareFirst has a strong commitment to the health and well-being of the individuals and families in the region, and their corporate giving strategy targets programs that work to improve the long-term health of their communities.

As part of their support, CareFirst awarded Calvary a $25,000 grant through their 2020 COVID-19 Response and Relief Fund. This funding will support our safe housing and health services for women experiencing homelessness.

Calvary was also selected to participate in CareFirst’s Week of Equity and Action and worked with two groups of volunteers to talk about communications strategies and equitable recruitment and hiring practices. This is part of CareFirst’s ongoing commitment to supporting a culture and environment of inclusion, equity and belonging across a richly diverse group of people of different ages, races, religions, ethnicities, veteran status, cultures, abilities, economic status, identity and sexual orientation.

Through the Corporate Partners Program at Calvary Women’s Services, community businesses and organizations provide life-changing resources for women who are homeless in Washington, D.C. Each partnership is unique and is an opportunity for partners to use their strengths and resources to support women in our community. You can learn more about the Corporate Partners Program, see our family of partners, and learn how to get your company involved on our website.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still so many ways to support Calvary. Learn about current volunteer needs, check out the wish list and Calvary Giving Catalog, get engaged through a virtual event or social media.
