The Vagina Monologues East of the River on Feb. 28 will feature dramatic readings from members of the community. In addition to performances, the event will include a silent auction. Proceeds from the event are being generously donated to Calvary Women’s Services in support of our housing programs and services for women.

The Vagina Monologues was written by playwright, feminist and activist Eve Ensler, and first premiered in New York City in the 1990s. The Vagina Monologues elevates the voices of different women and their experiences with sex, relationships, violence and their bodies. Each monologue is unique and tells a story that can pivot from bold and hilarious to traumatic.

Locally-organized productions of the The Vagina Monologues are now performed around the nation as part of the V-Day movement. From February 1 to April 30 each year, V-Day holds events aimed to create a dialogue around women’s issues and violence against women and girls. The Vagina Monologues East of the River is one of many V-Day events organized to increase awareness, raise money for various women-focused programs and support anti-violence organizations.
